Our Team

Mikael
Animals have always been an important part of my life. I grew up in the country with dogs, cats, and small farm animals. I enjoyed showing my roosters and ducks, got a few 1rst place ribbons. My parents would just shake their heads at me when I brought them in the house for a "bath and groom". Thankfully I had very understanding parents. As an adult I always had dogs and cats of my own. Early in my 20s I started working as a vet assistant, I loved it and learned so much. I also began volunteering with rehabilitating small wildlife. After my kids were born I transitioned to grooming, I knew this was the career for me! Even in the beginning I dreamed of owning my own salon, so almost 12 years ago I opened Ooh La La Pet Spa. I continue to learn from other groomers and continuing education seminars. My goal was always and still is to create a salon with a family atmosphere, our clients and their fur babies are very important to us. I look forward to meeting your you and your fur baby!

Sarah
I have been grooming 5 years but been in the dog industry for a decade. I live with my husband Alex, roommate, our little old man dachshund Bilbo, and 2 cats Zuko and Nimbus. Alex and I have been together since we were both 19. I have a passion for the tiny and elderly dogs. I love moving a muzzle dog to no restraint using nothing but time, confidence, patience, and kind words. Nothing makes me happier than gaining the trust of a super timid dog. I know I’ve done my job when your dogs knows my name and gets excited to come see me!

Penny
Bringing my extensive background in government and municipal work with me provides the knowledge and experience needed to assist with the daily operations of a very busy shop. On a personal level, I also did my fair share of grooming in my earlier years in a non-professional setting. Though my lifestyle kept me on the move and grooming eventually went by the wayside, I continue my love for dogs, cats, horses and the many other pets I have owned over the years. If I'm not working, I'm crafting in any one of many media, from painting, sketching, sculpting, sewing or creating my special Christmas ornaments for our clients. Working at Ooh La La has kept me involved with the lives of the guests and their wonderful pets. I truly enjoy my daily interactions with our pet parents and hope they feel the same. I love my job and what I do here with and for the people I work with every day. Though I was once called the "cranky old lady at the front desk", I hope that every visit is a pleasant one for all of us. After all these years with Ooh La La, this continues to be my five year plan.

RebeccaI have been grooming for 2 years at Ooh La La after getting my Groomers Certification from my ABC college. I look forward to continuing education to help your fur baby feel as special as possible. I love helping the foster pups get all dolled up for their forever family like my baby Mikey.

Valerie
Retired nurse who's been grooming for 3 and a half years. She is a certified cat groomer and also grooms for various rescue groups across the metroplex.

Bren
I'm a native West Texan. I've been in the McKinney area for less than a year. I owned an operated a glass studio in Lubbock, Texas for eight years during that time. I also volunteered for a pit-bull rescue called Saving Grace. That is where I got my dog Chino, who is currently 10 years old.
I have always had a passion & love for dogs as well as art. I had a complete change of life in every aspect at the age of 50. I decided to go to school to learn how to groom dogs and that's where I am today. Grooming dogs allows me to incorporate my passion of art with my love of dogs.

Breyan
I've been with Ooh La La since the beginning, watching the business grow and bathing lots of puppies along the way. I make sure every dog I take care is cleaned to perfection and ready for grooming. If you've come to Ooh La La before, there's a high chance that I was the one to clean your fur baby.

PawdiCure
Hyperkeratosis in dogs is a condition where their body produces too much keratin, which is a type of protein that makes up the skin, hair, and nails in a dog's body. When dogs have too much keratin, it appears as thickened dry calluses on their paw pads. An overproduction of keratin can also look like furry protrusions on the pads of their feet. Other places that are commonly affected include the bridge of the nose and pressure points where calluses form, like the elbows.
Symptoms of hyperkeratosis in dogs include thickened, hard skin on the paw pads, nose, or other pressure points; hairlike projections growing off the paw pads, cracked, dry skin on the paw pads or nose; bleeding or cracked paw pads; and lameness (not common). It can be managed to keep your dog comfortable and pain-free. Treatment includes using ointments or balms to soften the dry, hard tissue and removal of excess tissue. Moisturizing treatments (like paw balm) are the most common way to treat the affected area. The cost of this optional service is $15. If selected it will be added to your total.
